Response to the Feedback of My Assignment 01

Feedback: The way i describe my project is not entirely clear due to many sub focus of subject matter/issues that i brought into my project.
Response: I've confirmed to build an e-commerce website with bidding feature that act as a platform for retired or unemployed Chinese woman to buy and/or sell upcyle product.

Feedback: Overall statement can be much improved by keeping the key feature/ key concept consistently throughout the project explanation.
Response: I divide users of my website into two groups - sellers and buyers.
Key features for the sellers are sellers can broadcast their product on air and upload images of their products while key features for the buyers are buyers can propose prices and bid for the product they like.

Feedback: Target audience section is very weakly presented.
Response: My target audience will be Chinese since China has the world's largest online population and China could surpass the U.S. as the largest e-commerce market by 2015 as reported by CNBeta read article here. Besides that, my target audience will be retired or unemployed female because female has higher online retail spending shares on apparel, accessories, jewelry and hobbies as reported by eMarketer.com and Internetretailer.com.

Feedback: There is clearly a lack of research in the technical needs of your proposed project.
Response: I've talked to two friends of mine who studied programing and are currently working about this project. They are free and ready to help and assist my project on my technical side.

Feedback: What is the aim of the project (website)?
Response: It aims to build an online community that bring people with similar interest (make upcycle product) together and also allow people to generate revenue.

Feedback: What is the focus of learning you want to achieve from this project
Response: I want to learn to build an e-commerce website with bidding feature.

Feedback: What is so special about the ‘buy and sell upcylce product’ in your website as compare to other similar website and what exactly and how exactly the upcycling DIY buying and selling works with e-bidding-auction?
Response: My website allows buyers to propose prices for the product they like. Then after a period of time, the buyers have to compete with other buyers to bid for the product they have been wanting to purchase. This not only allow seller to make some revenue, it also bring a sense of satisfactory to the seller. In fact, it makes seller wanted to contribute to the website more often.

Note: Provide a summary of each of the stages or phrases of my project.

My thoughts after reading 12 crucial trends for 2012.
1. would my target audience be Chinese, China?

2. how can i thrill my target audience?
    - give consumer the ability to propose prices? access the website here

    - since online actions are about selling secondhand goods

4. bottom of the urban pyramid
    - should i target low income urban consumer?

Sketching a Project Proposal

The slides below listed the key points that I've extracted from the book 'How to Research 4th edition' by Lorrain Blaxter, Christina Hughes, and Malcom Tight.

My reason of why am i doing this project will be #3 - to enhance my employment prospects so i wish that this project will be my best portfolio work. Another reason is #4 - to acquire new skills such as marketing strategies, building an E-commerce website (probably include bidding system) using computer software or program such as HTML5 and Cloud Computing.

My general ideas is to build a Go Green E-commerce website. The issue i am addressing is mandatory recycling laws and tougher regulations on the disposal of electronic trash which had been mentioned by trendwatching.com, read the article here. While the context of my final project will be upcycling which is based on “Go Green” concept.

I would like to investigate the demographic of my target audience. I will relate this research with my degree essay which aimed to discover possible online consumer demographic.

My general research question would be e-commerce, online marketing strategies, online shopping culture, online consumer characteristic and behaviors, materialism and consumerism theories, also the upcycling idea.

Difference Between Good Design and Great Design

The slide below (Great Design = Bringing it All Together) listed the key points that I've extracted from an online article by Joshua Johnson. read the article here

Case study: Kaleidoscope website

A great design is attractive, has amazing colours and graphics, use classy typography and able to capture the attention of people who would otherwise be uninterested to look at your thought and idea.

A great design is to present a lot of information from the client in an attractive way to entice the customer to make a purchase.

A great design is one that works which enable the user to locate information they want without getting confused, misdirected or frustrated.

What Can a Multimedia Design Project Be?

The two slides below (Key Features of Multimedia Design Project & Kinds of Multimedia Design Works) listed the key points that I've extracted from lecturer note.

Example of the video work that i can think of will be:
1, my senior's work - Yap Ah Loy (live comments by audience displaying throughout the video)
2. a YouTube video - Life In A Day (users generated movie) watch the video here

An interesting example of sampling the environment that i can give is Pinkie Colour Forecast watch the video here

While my project will be #10 - commercial practices kind of work.

Best commercial practice refers to the methods, processes, procedures, systems, and/or usage that is commonly implemented in the business world and that is generally agreed to have produced the most satisfactory or desirable results on a consistent basis.
